Whilst Everton have likely already tied up the bulk of their transfer business for this summer, that does not prevent rivals from swooping to snag some of their own talents.
After all, given their financial situation, a huge bid is often too good to turn down for Kevin Thelwell, and should it come in for the right player, everybody has their price.
When it comes to Dominic Calvert-Lewin though, this particular situation is different, with Sean Dycheseemingly keen to keep him at the club, but the striker is still unsure on what he wants from his future.
Fortunately, as this saga dawdles on, we at last have an update of note regarding what might come in the next couple of weeks.
Graeme Bailey offers update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future
Speaking exclusively to Everton.News, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey provided a much-needed update on what could happen with the Toffees’ main marksman before the summer transfer window slams shut.
After all, nobody really seems to know what is going on with the 27-year-old, who has already rejected one contract, yet also failed to agree terms with Newcastle United throughout the Yankuba Minteh saga.
There’s still two weeks to go. Newcastle like him a lot. He still hasn’t signed that contract. Nothing imminent, but I think over the last two weeks I wouldn’t rule anything out. I think there’s still interest there from a few teams.
‘There’s been a few sniffs around him from what I’m hearing, but there’s not a lot Everton can do at this point. He’s got a year left, they want him to stay. From what I’m hearing they’re pretty hopeful.’
Everton should offer Dominic Calvert-Lewin a bumper new contract
Although it might go against all the financial movements they have made towards sustainability in recent years, the Toffees must surely try and tempt Calvert-Lewin to stay with a bumper new deal.
After all, it is not easy to find a striker in this market, particularly one with such a unique skillset.
