Boyhood bluenose Alex Rae has never done Rangers a bad turn when called upon by the club.
The former Sunderland and Wolves midfielder had to bide his time to get a chance to play for his heroes as a footballer and spent two years with Rangers in his mid-30s.
The first season was particularly successful for Alex Rae, who played a key role in bringing the title home to Ibrox via Helicopter Sunday.
Whilst his time at Rangers was brief, the midfielder has made no bones about his allegiances and even managed to win the likes of Paul Ince over to the blue side of Glasgow.
Now, eight months on from when he answered the Rangers call again the midfielder has reportedly received some news about his future.
Rae Rangers contract update
After Rangers sacked Michael Beale the club called upon Steven Davis to briefly take the reins at Ibrox.
The Ulsterman faced off against Aris Limassol on Europa League duties before introducing a certain Ross McCausland to the team against St Mirren.
But Davo wasn’t tasked with doing it alone and Alex Rae was also called upon to reinforce the Rangers backroom staff.
The thing is, whilst Davis stepped back to focus on his fitness upon the appointment of Philippe Clement, Alex Rae stuck around.
And now the former Ibrox midfielder looks set to be around for even longer after convincing Philippe Clement of a place in an impending backroom reshuffle.
There had been some conjecture surrounding Alex Rae’s future with the former Dundee and St Mirren manager’s short-term contract up in the summer.
