Conway has been heavily touted to make a move this summer, with Philippe Clement’s side reportedly locked in a transfer battle with clubs including Old Firm rivals Celtic to secure his signature (Daily Record, 11 June).
Hutton said of Conway: “I really like what I’ve seen from him so far, what he does is bring something different to Rangers.
“You look at Dessers and Danilo, they want to link up and have their back to goal, whereas Conway interests me because he wants to go in behind.
“They need someone like that, so it would be interesting to see whether they can get it over the line or not.”
Rangers must win transfer race for Tommy Conway this summer
One area in which the Gers certainly need reinforcements this season is up front, following a season that saw
Top-scorer Dessers hit 22 goals in his debut season at Ibrox, but that didn’t stop him coming under heavy criticism for some high-profile misses in crucial games as the Gers’ title bid came off the rails [John Robertson].
Signing Conway, and beating arch-rivals Celtic to do so, would be a huge statement for Clement to make this summer, and could hand Rangers a crucial advantage ahead of next season’s Premiership race.
