It comes as Carmo has reached the end of a loan spell with Olympiacos, Forest’s fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club. Record say the Greek side’s 17.5 million euros (roughly £15m) option to buy the player will expire at the end of this month and they are struggling to finance a permanent deal.

Nottingham Forest are said to have joined the race to sign Porto defender David Carmo as they look to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
The Premier League transfer window is now open, and it is an important one for the Reds. They need to balance the books but also bolster Nuno’s resources in order to kick on next season.
Centre-back is an area Forest are expected to look at, particularly amid a growing list of admirers for Brazilian ace Murillo. And reports from Portugal suggest Carmo is on the club’s radar.

Angola international Carmo spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign with Olympiacos. He was a regular starter and was in the XI for last month’s Europa Conference League final victory over Fiorentina.
Forest are likely to find themselves assessing their central defensive ranks this summer. Felipe, Scott McKenna and Loic Mbe Soh have been released, with the latter two having been out on loan last season. Joe Worrall and Jonathan Panzo are likely to move on, and there is no shortage of suitors for Murillo. Willy Boly signed a new deal last month, and the club also have Moussa Niakhate and Andrew Omobamidele on the books.
