Morgan Gibbs-White now looks set to remain at Nottingham Forest this season in a huge boost to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that keeping the 24-year-old is “great news” for Forest given his importance to the team.
There had been fears at the City Ground that Gibbs-White may have to be sold for the club to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
However, following the departures of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate, their concerns have been eased and there is no desire to let their star man leave.
Morgan Gibbs-White set to stay at Nottingham Forest
Gibbs-White joined Forest for a fee of £42.5million including add-ons in 2022, signing a five-year deal following their promotion to the Premier League.
Since then, he has featured 80 times for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 18 assists and becoming one of the most important payers in the squad.
Last season, the attacking midfielder scored six goals and picked up ten assists in 42 games, attracting interest from some of the country’s biggest clubs.
Football Insider previously revealed that Tottenham were among clubs keen on prising Gibbs-White away from the City Ground, with a potential £40million deal on the cards.
