Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Aston Villa over a three-player swap deal after making a new Jacob Ramsey proposal, sources have told Football Insider.
The potential transfer being discussed would see Giovani Lo Celso head to Villa Park with Ramsey and one other unnamed Villa player going to Spurs.
Tottenham are keen to sign the Villa attacking midfielder and are proposing the cash-plus-players exchange in a new attempt to lure him this summer.
Sources say that Villa have valued the 23-year-old at £50million, with Spurs offering players in a bid to reduce the cash outlay.
It was originally believed that Ramsey would be the biggest departure from Villa Park this summer, but Unai Emery decided to keep him after the club made other sales.
Tottenham’s Lo Celso is pushing for an exit
Spurs opting to use Lo Celso in a possible swap deal for Ramsey is unsurprising, as Football Insider reported that the Argentina international is pushing to leave this summer.
Lo Celso has struggled to secure a permanent place in the Tottenham starting XI during his time at the club, having been sent out on loan twice to Villarreal throughout that period.
The 28-year-old made just 19 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and creating two assists.
Ramsey wasn’t a regular at Villa last season either, as he featured 21 times and scored just once.
However, the versatile midfielder did deal with some injury problems throughout the campaign.
