Everton have been dealing with heavy interest in Jarrad Branthwaite from other clubs, but a new contract could be on the table for him at Goodison Park.
That’s the view of senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, who spoke on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast about the central defender.
Several top Premier League clubs have been monitoring the England international this summer, with Everton placing a £70million price tag on him.
It’s a transfer saga expected to continue throughout the window, with Everton hoping to put any speculation about Branthwaite to bed.
A new contract could do that, but the 22-year-old is already under a long-term deal that could keep him at Goodison Park until 2027.
Sources say much will depend on the player and whether he sees his future at the Merseyside club.
The club could want to offer him improved terms to convince the defender his long-term future should be at Everton, but while they could sit down to a deal it isn’t a priority at the moment.
Man United have submitted Jarrad Branthwaite offer
Man United initially bid £35million plus add-ons for Branthwaite, but the Merseyside club rejected that.
