Ben Siegrist has left Celtic to team up with Neil Lennon at Rapid Bucharest.
The Swiss goalkeeper has made just four appearances in his two years at the Hoops, none of them coming in the league, as he was largely third choice after signing from Dundee United. With the signing of TWO goalkeepers to replace Joe Hart – Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo – that pushed him further down the pecking order.
Lennon has now used his knowledge of the SPFL to bolster his goalkeeping ranks in Romania. He had previously admitted his interest in Siegrist. In a short statement on social media, Celtic confirmed the move and said: Ben Siegrist has.
Siegrist’s departure leaves Scott Bain to ight it out with the incoming with the Scot likely to be third choice. Schmeichel will be number one but will also use his bags of experience to mentor Sinisalo and ready him to potentially take over years down the line.
The Finland international signed a five-year deal after completing a £1million transfer from Aston Villa, and comes highly rated.
