Founded by four teenage boys in Glasgow’s West End, Rangers played their first match later that same year against the now defunct Callander in Glasgow Green.
In 1929, Rangers played their first game at the newly-renovated Ibrox Park, a B-listed building in Glasgow’s Ibrox area, situated on the same grounds as the ~51,000-seater that stands today.
Of those 118 accolades, Rangers have won the Scottish League Title a record 55 times, the Scottish Cup 34 times, the Scottish League Cup 28 times, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup once; the latter of which saw the Glasgow club overcome Dynamo Moscow 3-2 at the Nou Camp in Barcelona on May 24, 1972
Managers will look to re-sign some of them while others will be granted permission to leave their respective clubs with a handshake and a good luck message. Rangers boss Philippe Clement will have his own decisions to make while there are stars at Ibrox who will be the heroes of their own destiny with the likes of John Lundstram and Borna Barisic already poised, if reports are to be believed, to move on.
They won’t be the first Gers players to leave the club and, of course, they won’t be the last. Over the years hundreds have come and gone and some are even set to leave their current clubs years later.
Wes Foderingham
Has played 28 times this season for Sheffield United and in the Premier League he’s shown up very well. At 33-years-old a goalkeeper is hitting his prime and he’ll be a top signing for any other side in the EFL Championship or lower league EPL if he doesn’t extend with the Blades.
Jordan Rossiter
Has been with Bristol Rovers since 2022 and played well enough under Joey Barton while he was boss. Is out of contract this summer at 27-years-old. Still plenty of tread left on the tyre.
