The development of Power Court has been the topic of many a supporter keen to see the Hatters continued evolution with the building of a new stadium.
For as long as I can remember, there has been talk of a new ground, but nothing has ever materialised, indeed, my dad once told me it would never happen in his life time, sadly that proved to be true.
But, finally, it looks as if a new home is more than just a dream and we’re now at a stage where the fine tuning is being carried out.
The last I was aware was that the initial development would be a 17,000 capacity, with the potential to increase the size in years to come.
But, as confirmed by Luton Today, our CEO, Gary Sweet, has deemed that its initial capacity will now be 25,000 courtesy of the large financial gains made by our season in the Premier League.
To me, the decision makes perfect sense, if the money is there use it, get the ground built without the hassle of further development somewhere down the line.
However, I sincerely hope that the increased capacity allied with the extra cash needed will not be to the detriment of the team.
I’d hate to see all efforts directed towards the ground only to have, in a few years time, the best ground in League One.
Like I may have mentioned before, we cannot afford to languish in the EFL Championship for too long, the longer we remain a second tier side the harder it is to escape its clutches!
But what are your thoughts on the proposed increased capacity?
