Newcastle have experienced a mix of fortunes in the transfer market this summer with the Magpies still keen on making further improvements to their squad. Eddie Howe is believed to be chasing more additions in the final weeks of the window to boost Newcastle‘s hopes of making the Premier League‘s top four.
They have already welcomed Lewis Hall, William Osula, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy to St James’ Park since the end of last season. It has been more frustrating in other areas, with their efforts to sign a new central defender yet to prove fruitful.
It has been a relatively quiet window by Newcastle‘s standards given the fees they have spent on big-name players in previous seasons. There is still plenty of time for things to change, though, with just under two weeks before the transfer market closes until January.

Guehi finally joins from Palace
Newcastle have identified Marc Guehi as a top target following his impressive displays in an England shirt at Euro 2024. They have already seen a number of bids rejected by Crystal Palace but there is still hope that a deal can be agreed over the next fortnight.
Over the last few years, Guehi has established himself as one of the Premier League‘s finest defenders not playing for one of the ‘big six’ clubs. His arrival at Newcastle would provide an injection of elite-level quality at the back, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed.
