That is according to journalist Alan Nixon, who has reported via his Patreon account that multiple top flight clubs are showing an interest in the 24-year-old, who has already started both opening Championship games for the Hatters.
Featuring in a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth at Fratton Park yesterday, Doughty had to put in a hard shift defensively with, goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski being sent off on 31 minutes after two quick bookings.
Doughty commanded interest from Brentford and Crystal Palace earlier in the summer, but since then, links have gone cold.
But according to Nixon, the nippy wide player could once more be the subject of interest, although Town’s price-tag could scare off any admirers.
Doughty was highly praised last season for his performances with the Hatters, being a stand-out in what was a joyous but disappointing season for Luton, with their return to the top flight after 31 years unfortunately ending in relegation.
Playing as a wing-back in Rob Edwards’ system, Doughty has flourished down the left flank, and he is a very versatile individual who is adept at playing as a full-back but also a winger too.
The potential £15 million fee for Doughty does seem a high price, but for a Premier League outfit it is potentially miniscule for a home-grown player.
