Tottenham take on Arsenal in what is without a doubt the biggest game of the weekend.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says midfielder Yves Bissouma is a doubt for their North London game against Arsenal after returning from international duty with a knock.
Bissouma, who scored the opening goal for Mali against Eswatini, picked up the injury after a tackle. He was immediately withdrawn from the game, with LondonWorld reporting that the midfielder flew straight to London to have his leg checked, eager not to miss the upcoming match.
In the mandatory press conference ahead of the game, Postecoglou confirmed that Bissouma is receiving treatment, and a decision on his availability will be made closer to the game.
He told reporters: “The internationals all came back okay. Biss is the only one who’s got an issue. It’s not serious, but he’s getting treatment today. We’ll see if he can train tomorrow and make a decision then. The other guys like Micky van de Ven are all good. He’s trained fully through the international break. Dom [Solanke], yeah, the back half of this week, he joined first-team training again today. We’ve got training tomorrow, and if he gets through okay, he’ll be available. Richy [Richarlison] and Will Lankshear are the only two currently in rehab.”
Arsenal head into the game weakened, with Declan Rice suspended and captain Martin Odegaard expected to miss three weeks after injuring his ankle during international duty.
Tottenham have had a strong start to the season performance-wise, even though results have been mixed. A disappointing 1-1 draw against Leicester was followed by an impressive home win against Everton before the recent defeat to Newcastle.
Last season, Spurs lost both of their games against Arsenal, but Postecoglou is determined to close the gap and get Tottenham competing for the title this season.
