Nottingham Forest made Santiago Gimenez one of their top targets during the summer transfer window but the pursuit proved in vain.
Forest had a chunk of money set to one side to try and land a new talisman but it was refreshing to see the club now waste it on any old striker.
For a long time, it looked as though Gimenez would be the man for Forest and now he’s copping some flak for his form since the decision came that he would remain with Feyenoord.
Mikos Gouka has delivered a scathing verdict on Gimenez over his form for Feyenoord since the failed move to the City Ground.
He’s been speaking to Soccer News and he’s made the claim that he’s playing like a man who actually wished he’d joined Premier League outfit Forest in the summer.
Gouka said: “There are a number of seniors who are not showing it yet, with Santiago Gimenez the lead.
“If you look at his matches honestly, you don’t see a striker of whom you think he stayed happily despite the fact that Forest wanted to pay £30 million.
“You see a striker who is thinking: if only he had said yes to that offer.
“The transfer window will haunt Feyenoord for a while. There are simply no replacements for a number of positions and what is behind them are players who need more t
ime.”
