Former Luton striker Danny Hylton has become the latest ex-Hatter to join former Town boss Nathan Jones at League One Charlton Athletic as player-coach.
The vastly-experienced 35-year-old spent six years at Kenilworth Road between 2016-22, signed by Jones having left Oxford United and went on to score 62 goals in 170 matches for the Hatters, helping Town climb from League Two to the Championship. Having left Luton to join Northampton Town on a free transfer, he then made 32 appearances for the Cobblers, but failed to find the net, exiting Sixfields in the summer
Hylton has featured for the Addicks during pre-season, scoring in the 6-1 win at Dartford, but has now been unveiled at the Valley, joining Allan Campbell, Dan Potts, Luke Berry and Lloyd Jones who are all with the Addicks. Speaking to the club’s official website about his latest arrival, who has also played for Aldershot, Rotherham, Bury and AFC Wimbledon, Jones said: “Danny is someone I know very, very well who is a true professional.
“He will be an important member of our squad and coaching team. He will push and educate our players and he will live and breathe the club. When needed, he will be someone we can rely on for something different on the pitch. He has been with us since the summer and this role is the start of his coaching journey, and I have no doubt he will continue to have a positive impact on our group.”
