SC Braga goalkeeper Matheus appears to have opened the door to a transfer to Nottingham Forest.
The Reds were linked with the 32-year-old Brazilian last summer and were said to have had a bid rejected by the Portuguese club. But speaking to O Jogo, Matheus has suggested he is open to a move this summer.
“If a good opportunity arises for me and Braga, I won’t close doors,” he said. “There was interest from Nottingham last season, but the chairman thought it would be better if I stayed. If something good comes up for both of us, why not challenge myself?”
“There were a few that never got going,” he added. “Nottingham, Manchester United, Nice and some from Brazil. None were finalised because the time wasn’t right.
“I have to confess that Nottingham moved me a little, I can’t lie. Sportingly and financially, it was a huge leap.
“I’d be playing in the best league in the world, playing in the best stadiums and facing the best players. It moved me. When it’s beneficial for you and your family, of course you think about it. You have to make the most of a short career.”
