Celtic have reportedly set a record price tag for midfielder Matt O’Riley amid renewed interest from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniards had a €20m bid for the 23-year-old rejected in January but are tipped to return with another offer this summer. However, the La Liga giants may need to double their initial bid to land the Denmark international after reports among Madrid-based media claimed that Celtic have slapped a €40m price tag on O’Riley, which converts to approximately £33.5m. Should Celtic’s valuation be met, it would break the club’s previous record transfer sale, held jointly by Jota and Kieran Tierney, who both departed for £25m.
Rangers are said to be closing on a deal for Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane. The 21-year-old currently plays for FAR Rabat in the Moroccon top flight, where he scored seven goals and registered six assists across 23 appearances in the season just gone. KoraMaroc report that Rangers have submitted a £1.5m bid for the Morocco Under-23 international after his performances caught the eye of Ibrox scouts. Rangers manager Philippe Clement has already bolstered his squad with the additions of Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala in what is expected to be a busy summer of activity.
Hibs manager David Gray has confirmed his backroom team ahead of the new season with some familiar faces set to return to the Easter Road dugout. Eddie May, who has been working at Hibs in a coaching capacity since 2014 in a number of different roles, takes up an assistant coach role alongside Liam Craig, who joins from Queen’s Park, where he was assistant to Callum Davidson. Craig spent two years at Hibs during his playing days and also captained the side. Craig Samson has also returned to Hibs as goalkeeping coach after being poached from the same role at Aberdeen. Samson previously worked under Jack Ross at Hibs before making the move to Pitttodrie. He also had a brief spell at Hibs towards the end of his playing career but never made a first-team appearance.
