The 22-year-old Irish centre-back plans to replicate the success of the Celtic man after being swooped up by the Dons under recently-appointed manager Jimmy Thelin as the Swede’s first summer signing.
Scales’ Double-winning season under Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers boosted his status in selection for the Republic of Ireland national side.
And Molloy is hoping for similar joy in Scotland after joining from League of Ireland outfit Shelbourne.
Speaking to the Press and Journal, Molloy reckons he can be a big player for the Pittodrie outfit.
He said: “I believe in my ability and we are going to be a robust team that are hard to beat.
“I can help with that and we are also going to try to play football as well.
“And I think I can help with my ball playing abilities and bringing the ball out from the back as much as I can.”
He added: “You look at players like Liam Scales who came over to Scotland and got his opportunity in the national team.
“I think I can get there. I trust myself and have confidence in myself.
Thelin confirmed that wantaway striker Duk, who has a year left on his deal, has been ruled out due to a “medical issue”.
The Cape Verde forward has made it known he wants a move away from the North East, although club CEO Alan Burrows says they will only accept offeres for him at the right price.
The former Motherwell chief said: “Aberdeen operates a player trading model and our fans are well versed in that.
“The way it works is you bring players in, play them and then move them on.
“Everyone understands it and we’ve sold a lot of players over the years. Duk will be no different.
“He’s in the final year of his deal. As far as we’re concerned he’s an Aberdeen player and will be here for pre-season.
