Controversial season ticket price hike for 2024/25 season
Ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Forest announced a 24% increase in season ticket prices on average across the City Ground. The cheapest adult season ticket went up from £465 to £550, while the most expensive ticket increased from £640 to £850. Forest defended the price increases, stating, “Nottingham Forest Season Card prices have been amongst the very cheapest in the division. The prices for the 2024/25 season will see the club remain as one of the best-value in the Premier League.”
In response to the hike in season ticket prices, the main supporters groups came out to strongly condemn the decision from the club. Forza Garibaldi said: “We are dismayed and frustrated to see the significant rise in season card prices. At a time of great financial strain for the people of Nottingham and beyond this is both inconsiderate and damaging to supporters. We feel it also deeply damages the relationship between club and fans.”
The Supporters’ Trust also released a statement. They said: “NFST strongly opposes these price increases which will have a negative impact on all match-going fans. We believe that our fans’ incredible support has been a key factor in the remarkable success over recent season. This is no way to reward that contribution.”
One of the club’s main justifications for the price increases was that needed to increase revenues in preparation for the Squad Cost Ratio financial rules that will be introduced in the 2025/26 season. However, the decision to increase season ticket prices is calculated to boost the club’s revenues by only £2 million, which was described as “modest” by the Supporters’ Trust.
