Nottingham Forest started pre-season with a 3-0 victory over Chesterfield thanks to goals from Chris Wood, Josh Bowler and Ibrahim Sangare.
The visitors could have been 3-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes as they created a hat-trick of good chances. Emmanuel Dennis and Anthony Elanga forced saves from Spireites goalkeeper Ryan Boot, while Nicolas Dominguez was denied by the post after a shot from the edge of the area.
Forest thought they had bagged the opener just before the half-hour mark. However, Dennis was judged to have fouled Boot when he headed in a free-kick and his effort was ruled out. Opportunities continued to come for the Reds but there was no way past Boot before the break, with Ryan Yates and Elanga thwarted.
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo changed his 10 outfield players at the break and also switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation, having used a back-three in the first half. And his team finally got the breakthrough in the second half when Wood rolled the ball home from a tight angle.
