Leicester City will play two French sides in a pre-season exercise near Lake Geneva later this month.
City return to pre-season training next week as preparations begin for their return to the Premier League. So far, only two official friendlies have been organised, against Shrewsbury and Lens.
But before the meeting with the Shrews on Tuesday, July 23, for the first official friendly under Steve Cooper, the players will get a chance for some match action during a pre-season camp on Lake Geneva. The France-Switzerland border has been a regular summer spot for City and they’re heading back there this year.
Saturday, July 20, towards the end of the trip, they will play hour-long training matches against two sides also undergoing their pre-season preparations in the region. FC Annecy will be one of the teams City face, with reports from France suggesting fellow Ligue 2 side Caen are the other.
Upon their return, City will then head to Croud Meadow to take on League One outfit Shrewsbury in their first pre-season friendly. More matches are due to be announced soon.
The trip to French side Lens, who finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, will be City’s final match before the season proper begins. Cooper’s first competitive game in charge will be on Monday, August 19, against Tottenham Hotspur.
