Should Rangers step up their interest in one of the club’s transfer targets over the coming weeks, be warned.
Any offers below the £3.5 million mark are not worth making. The star’s current club are still looking for a fee in excess of £5 million.
Though if Albion Rrahmani proves to be as prolific in Glasgow as he was in Kosovo and Romania, then that would be £5 million very well spent indeed.
Rrahmani won the Golden Boot with Ballkani in 2023 before moving on to Rapid Bucharest and netting a further 19 goals in 30 matches.
Despite the best efforts of Cyriel Dessers – always willing but frequently wasteful – Rangers did not really have a consistent, reliable centre-forward at their disposal last term. Danilo missed most of the campaign through injury while both Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva have departed after their loan deals came to an end.
Rangers keen on Rapid Bucharest striker Albion Rrahmani
Could Rrahmani be the man to bridge the gap that still exists between Philippe Clement’s team and their Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the domestic game?
If the answer is yes, then the 23-year-old poacher could be the best £5 million Rangers have spent in years.
Rapid Bucharest president Viorel Moldovan spoke to Romanian publication Orange Sport on Tuesday. He confirms that Rapid have received an offer, albeit one that fell shy of their demands.
“Rrahmani is a Rapid player. He is a high-quality footballer. We continue to rely on him. Yes, there is an offer for Rrahmani at the moment, but it is insufficient compared to his level and value,” Moldovan explains.
“I really want him to stay and help us achieve our goals.”
Moldovan did not say how much was offered. Or, indeed, who made the offer.
