Talented young squad? Check. Appealing football philosophy? Check. Passionate fans? Check. Elliot Anderson is excited about what the future holds at Nottingham Forest.
Leaving the “comfort zone” of Newcastle United, where he had come up through the ranks, was a big decision for the midfielder. But he is more than convinced about the project he has signed up for at the City Ground after penning a five-year deal.
The Reds are aiming to push on in the Premier League in 2024/25 after successive relegation battles following their return to the top-flight. Anderson is one of five new additions so far, with Carlos Miguel, Eric da Silva Moreira and Nikola Milenkovic having joined, while Marko Stamenic was immediately loaned out to Olympiacos.
They link up with a group packed with potential. With the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga already in the ranks, Anderson believes there is every chance the team can climb up the table.
“It’s great. You see those names before you come in and you want to add to that list,” the 21-year-oldsaid. “Even in training, playing with those players, you can tell you link together well.
“They are the sort of players you want to be playing with. It’s exciting to play with those three.
“You can see in the training sessions that there’s some great talent in the squad. Youth is really important in any team. Establishing those connections throughout pre-season is going to be good.
“We want to get as high as we can up the table. We’ve definitely got a good chance of that, with the players we’ve got.
“A few of the lads are saying how good we look. We’ll just see what we can do.”
